Educator Primary pages available:
- All the pages students have access to (some accessed by study mode)
- User groups (for which they are the moderators)
Admin Primary pages available:
- All pages Educators & Students have (some accessed by study mode)
- All user groups (admins don't need to be set as the moderators)
- Library & Courses (only admins can create content)
You can change the menu icon name by changing the Page label, and add a description to the top of that page. Note that changing the page name of Collections to Courses, will not change the URL. Synap documentation will always refer to the original name of the page.
Adding a description into the 'Description' text box will cause a small question mark icon to appear next to the Page title when that page is open. Hovering over the question mark icon will make your description pop up:
Primary Pages Overview
Dashboard - This is where you can track your users and is the first page that opens when you log in. (Admins & Educators)
User Groups - Create, manage and view user groups from the user groups page. Educator user types can only view the groups for which they are set as moderators. Admins can see all user groups. Admins and Educators can: add existing, invite new, update attributes, reset passwords, view progress, explore insights, view and manage content access from these pages. can also find users to check their progress, reset password etc. More on Groups - Users and Groups help doc. Library - A copy of all content uploaded to Synap is kept in the library.How to Use your Library.(Admins)
Courses - The most linear fixed type of learning on Synap. Use the course page to create, edit and manage your courses. Find more info here - How to Create a Course.
Assignments - Are the instance of a course when it is assigned to a user group, the processes of assigning a course to a user group creates an assignment group, where admins can view user progress and export survey results. The Admin & Educator assignment page is different to the students assignment page. The student assignment page lets users take and interact with their assignments, Admins and Educators can access this page via study mode. Collections - Admins can create and edit Collections and content content from here. Collections provide the most flexible form of learning. Admins and Educators can access the student Collection pages via study mode There is more information on Collections here - Creating a Collection.
Packages - Page being phased out.
Flags - Admins only, view flags left on your questions by users. Note this will need flagging enabled at the quiz or exam configuration.
Account - Profile > Account All user types can can view and confirm their username email address from the account page, as well as find their Synap user id. Users can add in a profile picture, and change their password or platform font size from here. Students can view the attributes that have been made visible to them available. Users can also set their timezones, which may be important for international exams. Admins can manage their billing from this pop up. - More on managing billing
